Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, logistics, aviation, technology, and professional services. Its hospitality industry is international and fast-paced, with Cantonese, English, and Mandarin widely used. Life combines dense urban neighborhoods, excellent public transport, shopping, nightlife, and diverse dining with beaches, hiking trails, outlying islands, and country parks. Rents are high, so many employees share accommodation or live in districts outside the central area. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored General Employment Policy work visa before starting employment; approval depends on qualifications, a genuine offer, market-level pay, and the employer’s sponsorship. Dependants may usually apply to join approved workers. New arrivals should arrange housing, insurance, banking, and an Octopus travel card, and confirm whether the employer provides meals, uniforms, transport, or medical benefits.
