Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah. Hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, construction, healthcare, technology and finance provide many employment opportunities. The culture blends Islamic traditions with a highly international lifestyle; modest dress, respect for local customs and awareness of Ramadan practices are important. Life is modern and convenient, with excellent transport, shopping, beaches, restaurants and leisure facilities, although housing and schooling can be expensive. Most overseas employees require employer-sponsored residence and work visas, while UAE nationals benefit from Emiratisation programs. Employers commonly arrange entry permits, medical checks, Emirates ID processing and work authorization. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, transport, insurance, annual leave and relocation support before accepting an offer.
