Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected city-state with opportunities in hospitality, engineering, technology, finance, healthcare, logistics and tourism. The culture is multicultural, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Lifestyle is convenient and safe, with efficient public transport, diverse food, shopping, parks and excellent healthcare, although housing and daily expenses can be high. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass. Hotel technical roles may qualify for an S Pass or another appropriate Ministry of Manpower permit, depending on salary, qualifications and company quota; the employer normally manages the application. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, a local bank account, insurance and tax registration. Singapore has a hot, humid climate throughout the year, with frequent rain, so lightweight clothing and practical footwear are useful.
