Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, finance, technology and healthcare. The culture is multicultural, shaped by Chinese, Malay, Indian and international communities, and English is widely used at work. Life is safe, efficient and convenient, with excellent public transport, modern amenities, diverse food and many parks, museums and waterfront areas. Accommodation can be expensive, so newcomers often share apartments or live farther from the city centre. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation; approval is handled through Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower. Candidates should secure a written offer before relocating and confirm housing, insurance, pass eligibility and any onboarding requirements with the employer.
