Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, engineering, tourism, food and beverage, retail, technology, and shared services. Island-based hospitality jobs are common in Langkawi, Penang, Pangkor, Redang, and Tioman, while Kuala Lumpur and major mainland cities provide broader career options. The culture is multicultural, shaped by Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indigenous, and international communities. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living to relaxed coastal life, with affordable food, tropical weather, beaches, and outdoor activities. Foreign employees normally need an employment pass sponsored by the employer; requirements depend on nationality, salary, qualifications, and the role. Employers usually arrange the application, but candidates must provide valid documents and medical or immigration information when requested. Relocating workers should budget for housing deposits, transport, insurance, and variable island living costs. English is widely used in hotels, while Malay is the national language.
