Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, multicultural island city with strong employment opportunities in hospitality, food and beverage, tourism, retail, technology and finance. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also official languages. The lifestyle is safe, efficient and convenient, with excellent public transport, modern healthcare, diverse food and extensive shopping and entertainment. Living costs can be high, particularly for accommodation, so employees should compare shared rooms, staff housing and transport arrangements before relocating. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored work pass; hospitality roles may use an S Pass or Work Permit, subject to current Ministry of Manpower rules, salary thresholds, quotas and eligibility requirements. The employer normally submits the application. Before travelling, candidates should confirm the written contract, salary, accommodation, working hours, benefits and medical requirements, and ensure their passport and qualifications are valid.
