Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers hospitality opportunities in luxury resorts, city hotels, restaurants, tourism companies, wellness retreats, and travel services. Experienced professionals may find roles in food and beverage, culinary operations, rooms, sales, engineering, finance, and guest relations, especially in Colombo, Hambantota, Galle, Bentota, Kandy, and the Maldives-connected southern tourism market. The culture is welcoming and family-oriented, with Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and colonial influences. Daily life can be relaxed and affordable, although traffic, tropical heat, seasonal rain, and occasional power or internet interruptions require adjustment. English is widely used in hotels, while learning basic Sinhala or Tamil is helpful. Foreign nationals normally need an employment or residence visa sponsored by the employer and should confirm requirements with Sri Lankan immigration before travelling. Relocation packages vary, so clarify accommodation, transport, medical cover, taxes, flights, and work authorization before accepting an offer.
