Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hospitality, tourism, sustainability, events, education, technology, and international business. Popular island and coastal destinations include Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, Redang, and parts of Sabah, while Kuala Lumpur provides the broadest professional market. Life combines modern cities with beaches, rainforests, diverse food, and a multicultural society shaped by Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous traditions. Living costs vary considerably; Kuala Lumpur is more expensive than many resort islands, although accommodation and staff benefits may be available with hotel roles. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, and they should not begin work before approval. Requirements can include a valid passport, qualifications, a signed employment contract, and immigration clearance. Applicants should confirm whether the employer provides housing, flights, medical coverage, tax support, and relocation assistance, particularly for positions based in Sabah, Sarawak, or an island resort.
