The Chief Accountant is responsible for managing the hotel’s accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow, audits, internal controls and compliance with Malaysian regulations and Shangri-La standards. Candidates typically need a degree in Accounting or Finance, professional certification such as ACCA, CPA or CIMA, and several years of relevant experience, preferably in hospitality. Strong knowledge of hotel accounting systems, Malaysian tax requirements, Excel and financial analysis is expected. The successful candidate should be commercially aware, accurate, ethical and confident leading a finance team. Good communication and cooperation with department heads, auditors, suppliers and senior management are essential, along with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced hotel environment.
