Destination Guide

Indonesia offers opportunities in hotel sales, events, tourism, restaurants, resorts and destination management, particularly in Bali, Jakarta, Batam, Lombok and other established visitor destinations. Bali combines strong international tourism with a relaxed lifestyle, beaches, temples, creative communities and a sizeable expatriate population, though traffic, seasonal demand and housing costs can be challenging. Indonesian culture values courtesy, community, religious diversity and respectful dress, especially around ceremonies and places of worship. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work and residence permit; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Employers usually guide the KITAS or relevant employment-permit process, but requirements and fees should be confirmed with official immigration authorities. Candidates should budget for housing, transport, health insurance and document processing, and research the specific island, climate, salary package and relocation support before accepting an offer.
