Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, technology and healthcare. Its culture combines Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its festivals, languages and hawker food. Living standards are high, public transport is efficient and English is widely used, although accommodation and daily expenses can be costly. Hospitality employees commonly work rotating shifts and may receive service charge, meals, uniforms or staff benefits depending on the employer. Foreign nationals generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, subject to current eligibility rules and quotas. Candidates should secure a written offer and approved pass before relocating, and budget carefully for rent, deposits, transport and healthcare.
