Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied island destinations and strong hospitality opportunities, particularly in Langkawi, Penang, Pangkor, Tioman, Redang, Perhentian and parts of Sabah. Resort jobs commonly include hotel management, food and beverage, culinary, housekeeping, diving, guest relations, sales and events. Island life is generally relaxed, outdoor-oriented and community-minded, with beaches, marine activities and a multicultural food scene. Costs can be higher on smaller islands because supplies are transported from the mainland, while transport and healthcare may be more limited. Malaysia’s culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, and respectful dress and behaviour are appreciated. Foreign employees normally require an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with the company handling much of the application process; requirements vary by nationality and role. Relocating staff should confirm accommodation, transport, insurance, contract terms and work-permit conditions before accepting an offer.
