Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong employment opportunities in hospitality, tourism, engineering, technology, finance and healthcare. Its culture is multicultural, combining Chinese, Malay, Indian and Western influences, with English widely used at work. Lifestyle is safe, efficient and convenient, with excellent public transport, shopping, dining, parks and healthcare, although housing and daily expenses can be high. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass. Hotels commonly hire eligible professionals under an Employment Pass or S Pass, depending on qualifications, salary and prevailing government criteria; the employer usually submits the application. Candidates should secure written employment terms and confirm accommodation, medical coverage and relocation support. Singapore has a hot, humid climate throughout the year, so light clothing and good housing ventilation are important. The city is well connected internationally and offers easy access to Southeast Asian destinations.
