Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, engineering, facilities management, technology, finance, healthcare and logistics. Its culture is multicultural, with Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences reflected in food, festivals and daily life. The lifestyle is safe, efficient and urban, with excellent public transport, modern healthcare, shopping, restaurants and abundant green spaces. Housing can be expensive, especially near central districts, so many workers choose shared accommodation or locations close to MRT lines. English is widely used at work, although knowledge of other languages can be helpful in hospitality. Foreign employees generally need employer-sponsored permission to work, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and prevailing government rules. Candidates should confirm eligibility, medical requirements, contract terms and accommodation arrangements before relocating. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid throughout the year, with frequent rain.
