Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city-state with opportunities in hospitality, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics and retail. Its diverse culture combines Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its food, festivals and neighbourhoods. The lifestyle is safe, efficient and urban, with excellent public transport, shopping, dining and healthcare, although rent and daily expenses can be high. New residents often choose areas near MRT stations and compare employer-provided accommodation or allowances carefully. Foreign employees usually need a work pass arranged by their employer, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and sector rules. Candidates should confirm eligibility, contract terms, shift patterns, medical requirements and relocation costs before accepting an offer. Singapore has a tropical climate, so light clothing and readiness for frequent rain are useful.
