Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in hospitality, events, tourism, technology, finance and international business. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and Western influences, reflected in its food, festivals and languages. The lifestyle is safe, convenient and fast-paced, with efficient public transport, modern shopping areas, parks, beaches and easy access to nearby Southeast Asian destinations. Housing can be expensive, especially near the city centre, so many newcomers consider shared accommodation or neighbourhoods close to MRT lines. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass; eligibility depends on qualifications, salary and experience, with Employment Pass and S Pass routes commonly used for professional and supervisory roles. New arrivals should budget for rent, transport, healthcare and deposits, and confirm pass approval before relocating. Singapore's tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain.
