Destination Guide

Indonesia is an archipelago with major employment hubs including Java, Bali, Sumatra, Sulawesi and Lombok. Jakarta offers the broadest corporate and luxury-hotel market, while Bali, Lombok and other resort islands provide opportunities in hotels, restaurants, events and tourism, although seasonal demand and living costs can be higher. Indonesian culture values hospitality, respect for elders, teamwork and religious diversity; modest dress and sensitivity toward local customs are appreciated. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed coastal communities, with tropical weather, distinctive regional food and strong outdoor and family traditions. Foreign employees generally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work authorization, commonly arranged through the company before starting work. Candidates should confirm visa, tax, medical, accommodation, flights and dependent arrangements directly with Shangri-La. Remote-island relocation may involve limited international transport, healthcare and schooling, so practical planning is important.
