Destination Guide

The Philippines offers hotel, resort, tourism, food-and-beverage, sales, reservations, and revenue-management opportunities, especially in Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, and major beach destinations. Manila provides the broadest corporate and luxury-hotel market, while island locations offer a slower lifestyle, warm weather, beaches, diving, and outdoor activities. Filipino culture is generally welcoming, family-oriented, community-minded, and influenced by Spanish, American, and regional traditions. English is widely used in business and hospitality. Living costs vary considerably: Manila is more expensive and traffic-heavy, while smaller islands may be cheaper but have fewer services and limited transport. Foreign applicants normally need an employer-sponsored Alien Employment Permit and appropriate work visa, commonly a 9(g) pre-arranged employee visa. Confirm current immigration rules, accommodation, healthcare, taxes, and relocation support directly with Shangri-La before accepting an offer.
