Destination Guide

Penang is a Malaysian island with strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, food and beverage, retail, healthcare, education, technology, and services. George Town is renowned for its UNESCO-listed heritage, multicultural communities, temples, mosques, festivals, and excellent street food. Batu Ferringhi offers a relaxed resort lifestyle, beaches, restaurants, and water activities, while the island also provides shopping, hospitals, international schools, and convenient urban amenities. Living costs are generally lower than in Kuala Lumpur, although accommodation near the beach can be comparatively expensive. Foreign employees normally require an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with the company handling much of the application process; approval depends on current Malaysian immigration and salary rules. New arrivals should arrange a valid passport, employment contract, medical or document checks where required, and suitable accommodation before relocating.
