Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, engineering, technology, finance and healthcare. Hotel jobs are concentrated around Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa, Changi and the central business district. The culture is multicultural, organised and generally fast-paced, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Public transport is excellent, and most residents use the MRT and buses. The lifestyle is safe and convenient, although housing and daily expenses can be high. International employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation. Employers usually guide successful candidates through the application process. Before relocating, check pass eligibility, accommodation costs, healthcare arrangements and employment conditions. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain, so lightweight clothing and practical footwear are recommended.
