Destination Guide

Thailand’s main island destinations include Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Chang and Koh Phi Phi. Hospitality work is widely available in hotels, resorts, restaurants, spas, diving centers and tourism businesses, especially in Phuket and Koh Samui. Island life is generally warm, social and outdoors-oriented, with beaches, markets, temples and water activities nearby. Local culture values politeness, respect for elders, modest behavior at temples and friendly service. Living costs vary: tourist areas are more expensive, while local neighborhoods are more affordable. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate Non-Immigrant B visa and a Thai work permit arranged with employer support before working legally. Relocating employees should confirm accommodation, transport, healthcare, insurance, visa fees and service-charge policies. Tropical weather, seasonal tourism and occasional transport limitations should also be considered.
