Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, multicultural city-island with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, technology and healthcare. English is widely used at work, while Chinese, Malay and Indian cultures shape the city’s food, festivals and everyday life. The lifestyle is safe, efficient and urban, with excellent public transport, shopping, parks and a broad dining scene, although housing and general expenses can be high. Foreign professionals normally require an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, subject to salary, qualifications and government approval. Employers often guide successful candidates through the application process. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, healthcare coverage, banking and local tax registration, and budget carefully for rent. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain.
