Job Description

The Chef de Cuisine leads the culinary operation of Cafe KOOL at Shangri-La in Hong Kong. Responsibilities typically include menu planning, food preparation, quality control, kitchen staffing, cost management, inventory control, hygiene compliance and maintaining consistent service standards. Candidates are expected to have substantial experience in a hotel, upscale restaurant or high-volume international kitchen, with proven supervisory or senior chef experience. Formal culinary training is advantageous, along with strong knowledge of food safety, HACCP, purchasing and kitchen cost control. The role requires creativity, organization, resilience and the ability to coach a multicultural team while working effectively under pressure. Good communication skills in English are normally required; Cantonese or Mandarin would be an advantage.
