Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, well-connected island city-state and a major hub for hospitality, finance, technology, aviation and tourism. Job opportunities are available in hotels, restaurants, attractions, events, retail and corporate services, although employers generally prioritise candidates with relevant qualifications and experience. The culture is multicultural, disciplined and service-oriented, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. The lifestyle is safe and convenient, supported by excellent public transport, modern healthcare, diverse food and extensive shopping and entertainment. Accommodation and daily expenses can be high, particularly near central districts, so housing should be planned carefully. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, and approval depends on salary, qualifications and government requirements. New arrivals should arrange a valid employment contract, suitable housing, medical cover and local banking access before relocating.
