Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, events, retail and shared-service businesses. Popular island and coastal destinations include Langkawi, Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Redang and Perhentian, while Kuala Lumpur provides the broadest corporate and hospitality market. Life can be affordable compared with many international cities, with excellent food, modern shopping, tropical weather and a relaxed social culture. Malay, English and Mandarin are commonly used in business and hospitality. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the company normally handles the application before work begins; requirements depend on salary, nationality and role. Relocation costs, housing and medical coverage should be confirmed in the offer. Island locations can be quieter and more seasonal, whereas Kuala Lumpur offers better transport, networking and career progression. Malaysia is welcoming, multicultural and well suited to candidates comfortable with warm weather and guest-focused service.
