Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, finance, technology, healthcare and logistics. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in food, festivals and everyday life. Public transport is efficient, safe and extensive, while housing, dining and entertainment options range from affordable local facilities to premium developments. The climate is hot, humid and tropical throughout the year, with frequent rain. Foreign hires normally need an employer-sponsored work pass; an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit may apply depending on salary, qualifications and occupation. Employers usually guide candidates through the application process, but approval is subject to government requirements and quotas. New arrivals should budget carefully for rent, deposits, transport and healthcare, and confirm accommodation and pass arrangements before relocating.
