Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotel engineering, facilities management, tourism, food and beverage, construction and property operations, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and other resort destinations. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences; English is widely used in business and hospitality. Lifestyle ranges from busy city living to relaxed island and coastal communities, with tropical weather, diverse food and generally moderate living costs. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the hiring company must complete the relevant immigration approvals before work begins. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, transport, insurance, tax and repatriation terms in writing. Resort roles may include staff meals, housing or allowances, but this varies by property. Reliable public transport is strongest in major cities, while island locations may require private transport.
