Destination Guide

Indonesia offers hospitality opportunities across Java, Bali, Lombok, the Riau Islands, and destinations such as Komodo and Sulawesi. Bali has the widest range of resort jobs and a relaxed, international lifestyle, but accommodation and transport can be expensive in popular areas. Jakarta, on Java, provides more corporate hotel opportunities and urban amenities, while Lombok and other resort islands offer a quieter environment with strong seasonal tourism. Indonesian culture values respect, community, modesty, and relationship-building; learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is helpful. Foreign employees generally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work and stay permit, commonly arranged through the hiring company. Tourist visas do not permit employment. Before relocating, confirm salary, service charge, housing, meals, insurance, flights, probation terms, and permit responsibilities. Plan for tropical weather, variable transport, and differences in infrastructure between major cities and remote islands.
