Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality, tourism, marketing and communications opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and resort islands such as Redang, Perhentian and Tioman. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences, and English is widely used in business and hotels. Island living provides beaches, diving, outdoor activities and a relaxed lifestyle, although transport, healthcare and housing can be more limited than in major cities. Living costs vary, with Kuala Lumpur generally offering greater convenience and Langkawi often providing a slower pace. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the company must support the application before work begins. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, insurance, tax responsibilities and relocation support. Malaysians do not need a visa to work domestically, while foreign applicants should check current immigration requirements.
