Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, engineering, facilities management, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics, and tourism. Its culture blends Chinese, Malay, Indian, and international influences, reflected in food, festivals, languages, and neighbourhoods. Lifestyle is convenient and generally safe, with excellent public transport, modern healthcare, shopping, parks, and diverse dining. Accommodation and daily expenses can be high, especially near the city centre, so employees should budget carefully and compare housing options. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass, or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary, and occupation. The employer normally submits the application, while approval depends on current government requirements. New arrivals should arrange valid travel documents, housing, insurance, banking access, and tax registration where applicable. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent heavy rain.
