Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hotel revenue, reservations, sales and general hospitality, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and other resort destinations. Island life can be relaxed and scenic, with beaches, diving, island-hopping, local markets and a strong food culture. Popular islands such as Langkawi and parts of Sabah combine international tourism with Malaysian, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous traditions. Living costs are generally moderate, though accommodation and imported goods may cost more in resort areas. Foreign nationals normally require employer-sponsored authorization, such as an Employment Pass, and should not begin work before approval. Employers commonly assist with immigration and relocation, but contracts should clarify housing, transport, insurance and flights. Malaysia is warm and humid year-round, with seasonal monsoon conditions varying by coast. A valid passport, medical checks and authenticated qualifications may be required.
