Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city-state with strong employment opportunities in hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, finance, technology, healthcare and logistics. Its culture blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its festivals, languages and excellent hawker food. Life is safe, efficient and convenient, with reliable public transport, modern shopping areas, parks and a lively dining scene. Accommodation can be expensive, so newcomers often begin with shared housing or employer-supported accommodation. Foreign workers generally need an appropriate work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or sector-specific Work Permit; the employer normally submits the application. Requirements depend on salary, qualifications, nationality and occupation. Bring certified documents, budget for deposits and research transport links before relocating. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid throughout the year, with frequent rain.
