Destination Guide

Singapore is a modern island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, retail, finance, technology and logistics. Its multicultural society combines Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in the food, festivals and languages. The lifestyle is safe, clean and highly connected, with efficient public transport, excellent healthcare and plentiful dining and entertainment. Housing can be expensive, particularly near central districts, so many employees choose shared accommodation or areas outside the city centre. Foreign professionals generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation. Employers usually guide successful applicants through the application process. New arrivals should budget for rent, deposits, transport, insurance and daily expenses, and confirm accommodation and pass conditions before relocating.
