Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, technology and healthcare. Hospitality roles are concentrated around Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa, the airport and major business districts. The culture is multicultural, orderly and fast-paced, with English widely used at work alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Singapore offers excellent public transport, reliable services, safe neighbourhoods and an active dining and entertainment scene. Housing and daily expenses can be high, particularly near central areas, so shared accommodation is common for hospitality workers. Foreign candidates normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and sector rules. The employer usually handles the application. Before relocating, confirm the pass type, accommodation, medical requirements, contract terms, service charge and working hours. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid throughout the year.
