Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact city-state and island with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, technology and logistics. Its culture blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its food, festivals and languages. Life is safe, efficient and highly connected, with excellent public transport, healthcare and services, although rent and daily expenses can be high. Hospitality employees commonly work rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or relevant Work Permit; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and current government rules. Employers may assist with applications, but candidates should confirm terms before relocating. New arrivals should budget for accommodation, transport, deposits and medical requirements, and check official Singapore government guidance for visa details.
