Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact city-state rather than a traditional resort island, offering strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, aviation, finance, technology, and healthcare. The culture is multicultural, with Chinese, Malay, Indian, and international influences reflected in food, festivals, and daily life. Public transport is excellent, the city is clean and safe, and leisure options include beaches on Sentosa, parks, shopping districts, and diverse dining. Living costs, especially rent, are high, so employer accommodation or shared housing can be helpful. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored work pass; eligibility depends on nationality, qualifications, salary, and the applicable pass category. New arrivals should arrange a valid employment offer, medical or documentation requirements, housing, banking, and local transport access before relocation. Singapore’s humid climate and fast-paced service industry require adaptability.
