Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, events, tourism sales and guest services, particularly in Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Kuala Lumpur. Penang combines heritage streets, beaches, excellent food and a relaxed but lively expatriate community. Langkawi provides a quieter resort lifestyle, while Sabah offers nature, diving and outdoor activities. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and international influences; English is widely used in hospitality, although Malay is the national language. Living costs vary, with island resorts sometimes providing staff accommodation or meals. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored employment pass, and the company usually handles the application after an offer is accepted. Candidates should confirm accommodation, transport, medical coverage, contract terms and taxation before relocating. Malaysia has warm weather year-round, with heavier rain during monsoon periods depending on the region.
