Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, retail, technology, aviation, tourism and international business, with many regional headquarters based in the city. Its culture combines Cantonese traditions, international influences, festivals, excellent food and a fast-paced working environment. Lifestyle options range from dense urban neighborhoods and shopping districts to beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Public transport is efficient, and English is widely used in business, although Cantonese is valuable for daily life. Foreign employees generally require an employment visa sponsored by their employer, with approval depending on qualifications, salary and the availability of a genuine role. New arrivals should budget carefully for high rents, arrange accommodation near reliable transport and review health insurance, tax and banking requirements before relocating.
