Destination Guide

Indonesia offers opportunities for experienced hospitality professionals across Bali, Java, Lombok and other resort islands. Bali has the largest concentration of international hotels, restaurants and luxury resorts, while Jakarta and Surabaya provide strong city-hotel and business-event markets. Indonesian culture values courtesy, community, respect for elders and religious diversity; workplace teams are often multicultural and English is widely used in international hotels. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to beach, diving and outdoor activities, with costs varying considerably by island. Foreign employees normally require employer sponsorship and an appropriate work permit and stay visa, commonly arranged through the hotel before starting work. Do not work on a tourist visa. Candidates should verify contract benefits, accommodation, tax treatment, insurance, medical requirements and relocation assistance. Bali housing can be expensive in popular areas, whereas employer accommodation may significantly reduce living costs.
