Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, highly connected city with a fast-paced lifestyle, a strong international outlook and access to beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Hospitality offers opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, events, tourism, cruise services and wellness, especially for candidates with language skills and customer-service experience. Cantonese is widely used, while English is important in business and hotels; Mandarin is also valuable. Rent can be expensive, particularly on Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, so many employees share accommodation or live in the New Territories. Public transport is excellent, with the MTR, buses and ferries covering most areas. Foreign nationals generally need an approved employment visa sponsored by an employer before starting work; requirements vary by nationality and qualifications. Employers may provide staff meals, transport or accommodation, but these benefits should be confirmed in the offer.
