Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, energetic destination made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories, with excellent public transport and a strong international hospitality industry. Jobs are available in hotels, restaurants, catering, retail, finance, technology, and tourism. Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in professional and hotel environments. Life is fast-paced, safe, and convenient, with dense city living, excellent food, hiking trails, beaches, and vibrant cultural districts. Rent can be expensive, especially near Central, so staff accommodation or shared housing may be important. Foreign employees generally need an approved employment visa before starting work; employers usually sponsor eligible applicants under the General Employment Policy. Applicants should prepare a valid passport, qualifications, employment records, and a signed contract. Hong Kong has humid summers, mild winters, and efficient healthcare and banking services.
