Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers varied opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, logistics, technology and professional services. Hospitality jobs are concentrated in Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and major resort areas such as Lantau. The culture is international but strongly influenced by Cantonese traditions, with English widely used in business and tourism. Life is fast-paced, highly connected and convenient, although housing is expensive and living space is limited. Public transport is excellent, with extensive rail, bus, tram and ferry networks. Overseas workers generally need an employment visa arranged or supported by an employer before starting work; requirements depend on nationality, qualifications and the position. Applicants should confirm contract terms, accommodation, medical coverage and visa sponsorship directly with Shangri-La. Hong Kong has humid summers, mild winters, excellent dining and easy access to hiking trails, beaches and nearby islands.
