Destination Guide

The UAE is not an island destination but a federation of seven emirates, with major hospitality opportunities in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah. Hotels, resorts, restaurants, catering companies and entertainment venues regularly recruit chefs, especially those with luxury, international or specialist cuisine experience. The culture combines Emirati traditions with a highly international population; modest dress and respect for Islamic customs are important, particularly during Ramadan. Lifestyle options range from beaches, desert activities and shopping to museums, dining and nightlife, although summer temperatures are extremely high. Most overseas employees work under employer-sponsored residence and work visas. Employers commonly arrange medical checks, health insurance and sometimes accommodation, meals, transport and flights. Candidates should confirm the full package, probation terms and housing location before accepting an offer. Living costs can be high, especially in Dubai, so accommodation benefits and transport support are valuable.
