Destination Guide

Indonesia offers hospitality opportunities across Bali, Java, Lombok, Batam and other popular islands, particularly in hotels, restaurants, resorts, tourism and events. Bali is the most internationally recognised destination, with a warm climate, beaches, temples, strong expatriate communities and an active tourism lifestyle. Living costs vary considerably: resort areas can be expensive, while local neighbourhoods are more affordable. Indonesian culture values respect, community, religious diversity and polite communication; learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is useful. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and the appropriate work and stay permits before starting employment. Do not work on a tourist visa. Employers may assist with permits, accommodation, meals, transport, health insurance or relocation, but these benefits should be confirmed in the offer letter. Candidates should also prepare documents, medical checks and proof of qualifications, and consider local transport, climate and housing before relocating.
