Destination Guide

Japan offers opportunities in technology, logistics, manufacturing, finance, hospitality, education, healthcare, and international business. Tokyo has the broadest job market, while Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Sapporo, and regional areas offer different costs and lifestyles. The culture values punctuality, respect, teamwork, cleanliness, and careful communication; learning basic Japanese is highly useful even in international workplaces. Lifestyle choices range from dense urban living and excellent public transport to quieter coastal, rural, and mountain communities. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored work visa matching their role, such as an Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services visa; qualifications and documentation are assessed by immigration authorities. Secure employment before arrival, confirm relocation support, budget for housing deposits and transport, and arrange residence registration, health insurance, and a local bank account after moving.
