Destination Guide

Malaysia offers technology and banking opportunities mainly in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Cyberjaya and Penang, with demand for mainframe support, cybersecurity, cloud, data, payments and application operations. The country combines multicultural communities, strong food traditions and generally affordable living compared with Singapore. Kuala Lumpur provides the widest range of employers and public transport, while Penang offers a slower lifestyle and a growing technology sector. Malaysia has attractive beaches and islands, including Langkawi, Tioman and Perhentian, although these are leisure destinations rather than major job centres. Foreign professionals normally require employer sponsorship and an Employment Pass, with the company handling much of the application process. Candidates should confirm current salary, pass eligibility and documentation requirements before relocating. English is widely used in banking, while Malay and Mandarin may be useful socially or professionally.
