Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in banking, technology, shared services, finance, healthcare, manufacturing, tourism, and digital commerce. Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley are the main professional hubs, while Penang and Johor also have strong technology, industrial, and service economies. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indigenous, and international influences; English is widely used in business, alongside Malay and other languages. Lifestyle options range from modern city living and affordable food to beaches, rainforests, and island destinations such as Langkawi, Tioman, and Penang. Foreign professionals generally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with the company handling much of the application process. Families may require dependent passes, and work must not begin before approval. Relocating employees should budget for housing, transport, healthcare, schooling, and insurance, and verify current immigration rules before moving.
