Destination Guide

Malaysia offers job opportunities in banking, technology, shared services, manufacturing, tourism, healthcare, and professional services. Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya are the main centres for financial and corporate roles, while Penang, Johor, Sabah, and Sarawak offer opportunities in technology, industry, logistics, and tourism. The country has a multicultural society shaped by Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous traditions, with English widely used in business. Lifestyle costs are generally moderate, although housing in central Kuala Lumpur and popular island destinations can be higher. Malaysia’s islands, including Langkawi, Penang, and parts of Sabah, provide beaches, food, and outdoor activities. Foreign employees normally require an employment pass sponsored by their employer; qualifications, salary, and immigration approval apply. Relocating candidates should arrange accommodation, healthcare coverage, tax registration, and local banking before starting work.
