Destination Guide

Malaysia is not one island but a country spanning the Malay Peninsula and parts of Borneo, with attractive island destinations such as Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, and Sabah’s coastal islands. Job opportunities are strongest in logistics, air freight, manufacturing, technology, finance, shared services, tourism, and international trade, especially around Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, Johor, and major airports. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indigenous, and international influences; English is widely used in business. Lifestyle costs are moderate, although Kuala Lumpur and popular island areas can be more expensive. Malaysia offers tropical weather, diverse food, good transport links, and a generally convenient urban lifestyle. Foreign professionals normally need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, with approval linked to qualifications, salary, and the employing entity. Check current immigration rules before relocating.
