Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in administration, logistics, customer service, shared services, manufacturing, technology and tourism. Kuala Lumpur and Selangor provide the broadest employment market, while Penang is strong in electronics and manufacturing, Johor in logistics and industry, and Sabah and Sarawak in tourism, energy and regional services. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences; English is widely used in business, alongside Bahasa Malaysia. Lifestyle costs are generally moderate, though central Kuala Lumpur and popular islands such as Penang and Langkawi can be more expensive. Public transport is strongest in major cities, while island living is quieter and more dependent on cars or ferries. Foreign employees normally need employer-sponsored work authorization, such as an Employment Pass, before starting work. Check current immigration rules and arrange housing, healthcare and banking before relocating.
